HERA

All employers need to ensure their pay and grading structures are designed to recognise the value of roles and ensure equal pay for work of equal value. HERA provides an analytical approach that reflects the values of the sector and provides transparency to the process.

The HERA approach provides the building blocks that enable the integration of a range of other HR functions including Recruitment and Selection, Appraisal and Personal Development, Performance Management, Career Development, Promotion, and Pay and Grading.

The use of HERA in universities to implement their pay and grading structures has found high levels of acceptance by Staff and their Trade Union representatives.

HERA was developed by the sector for the sector and is owned by ECC Ltd, a consortium of universities and colleges of higher and further education. Future developments will therefore be made collaboratively and reflect the needs of the members.
